Kendriya Vidyalaya Barpeta is presently running in a temporary building at Krishna Nagar Barpeta. The Vidyalaya has acquired 15 bighas of land for construction of its permanent building there. The vidyalaya was opened in 2003 in Civil sector having classes from I to V. Now it has been upgraded to class XI( Science ) with total stenth of 531.

The Vidyalaya has a team of well qualified and dedicated teachers. At present total staff of vidyalaya is 30.

The Vidyalaya has a small but a well stock library. The Vidyalaya is a regular subscriber of English, Hindi and Assamese dailies and a number of good children magazines. In spite of its many limitations the Vidyalaya provides enough opportunities to the students to participate in various games and sports events

Details of Laboratory :
The school has a small but befitting junior science laboratory where experiments are shown to re-iterate the text book knowledge.

Other Details :
The academic subjects of the syllabus are taught by the teachers through play-way and activity methods employing various techniques, devices etc. From I to V the competencies of the subject concerned are developed systematically with the proper planning and the evaluation of the same is also done formally in form of unit test. Half yearly and session ending examination and informally through class test. The bright and backward children are also categorized and proper action is taken accordingly. No single student is spared and unattended. Every pupil is provided opportunity to grow up as far as possible and practicable. The teachers always involve the pupils in teaching- learning process by means of various activities, project etc. Examinations are held in time and results are also announced in due course. The teachers individual job descriptions are always sought and their performances are regularly checked. The subject committee meetings are also held at a regular intervals and teacher's meeting is also organized for academic performance and professional enhancement. There is list of activities already prepared for whole session and its information to all concerned houses. For the smooth conduct of C.C.A. There is a coordinator, House Masters, captains and vice captains. The coordinators and house masters are generally teachers and rest are selected from among the students. The whole school is divided into four houses namely Gandhi house, Lachit house, Raman house, Gandhi House and Sankardev house. Awards are given to the best performers.

Presently the Vidyalaya has been running with too much limitation but Vidyalaya promises to cross all the barriers and hopes to establish itself as one of the best Vidyalaya in the region.
